Dear Alistair Darling, Chancellor of the Exchequer,
Please make investing in Britain's struggling children and families your priority for the Pre-Budget Report, to ensure we don't miss child poverty targets.
Your personal information will be kept private and treated in accordance with our privacy policy.
Even before the recession, there were 4 million children in the UK below the poverty line. Now, many families are falling deeper and deeper into poverty, as unemployment rises and working hours are reduced. Government must act now to ensure that we don't see increasing numbers of children growing up without the basic minimum that they need.
In November, Alistair Darling will publish his Pre-Budget Report. He can use it to make sure that families that are already struggling to cope don't fall even further behind in the recession.
Poverty impacts upon children's health, education and life chances. This means that poverty passes from generation to generation. We're still paying the social and economic price of past recessions. Let's make sure we don't end up in the same situation as a result of the recession that we're in now. Tell Alistair Darling to take action in his Pre-Budget Report to protect struggling families in the recession.
