Petition text:
To the Independent Panel on Forestry
Please tell the government to look after our forests properly, including:
- keep our forests in public ownership
- protect the incredible variety of animals and plants that live in our forests
- making sure as many people as possible are able to enjoy our forests, including those who don’t have access to a car, or use a wheelchair, as well as those who want to ride horses or bikes

A few weeks ago, nearly 35,000 38 Degrees members made submissions to the government’s forests panel about the future of England’s woodlands. It made such an impact that they rang the 38 Degrees office immediately to arrange a meeting to discuss our views in more depth. The meeting is just days away, on Friday.
Over the past few weeks hundreds of 38 Degrees members have been attending forest get-togethers, taking photos and videos and sharing their stories. In the 38 Degrees office, staff and volunteers have been collating ideas and photographs from these gatherings and adding them to the original submissions for the forests panel.
Now it's time to give a clear and powerful message to the forests panel by presenting them with these simple- public ownership, protecting wildlife and plant diversity and accessibility for all.
Add your name to back these priorities now and let's deliver a united message to protect England’s woodlands for future generations.
