Voting reform: write to a newspaper
|
On 6th May, we voted for a hung parliament. No single party convinced us that they should form the next government on their own. As the politicians scramble to form pacts and coalitions, there’s one issue that they should all be agreeing upon: the need to reform our voting system to make it fairer, so that every vote counts. If Nick Clegg doesn’t fight for voting reform, it’s not just Lib Dem voters who’ll be cheated: it’s all of us. But the Conservatives don’t want electoral reform, because they’d lose power. David Cameron’s friends in the media are already making the case against switching to a fairer voting system. Now they’ll be working overtime to put pressure on Nick Clegg to give up on his hopes for a more democratic system. We need to make sure we set the record straight, so people get the chance to hear a balanced view about voting reform. Write to a national newspaper, explaining why you support voting reform and urging Nick Clegg to fight for a fairer system when he’s making deals over the next few days. ![]() |
