In the last few days nurses and midwives joined doctors warning of the devastating impact the changes would have on our NHS.

But it’s not only health professionals speaking out. Conservative, Lib Dem and Labour MPs on the House of Commons health committee warned a few days ago that the government’s plans are already having a disastrous effect on the NHS.

Then, yesterday, it looked like almost the entire healthcare profession was about to speak out against Lansley’s bill. That could have been the final nail in the coffin for the plans. But Andrew Lansley got on the phone to healthcare leaders who were about to speak up and promised fresh changes to his bill, in a desperate attempt to keep the plans afloat.

These changes will be announced next week. That means we’ve got just a few days to make sure these new changes safeguard our NHS and aren’t just political weasel words.
