I am an Italian student majoring in International Relations. I came across 38 Degrees and I liked it straight away: the effort put in the campaigns inspired me to take action and ask to volunteer here. Needless to say, I’m very happy to be now part of this environment and learn more about politics, environment and society in general while campaigning. I am involved in a research group within my university and I have previous experience in student magazines, things that I am sure will positively contribute during my time volunteering for 38 Degrees.

I am a born environmentalist, having graduated from university I have really found a niche in working and volunteering at non profit organisations, I have a sense of real achievement volunteering for places which make a real difference to the public. In the future I want to be raising awareness of climate change on a global level making a difference in small ways. Interestingly enough I have a twin sister who unfortunately is not identical. In my spare time I care for a koi pond at home.

I recently graduated from the University of Sussex where I studied politics. Having ruled out party-politics, I am excited about beginning a career in campaigning organisations just like 38 Degrees. I am particularly passionate about campaigns regarding tax avoidance, NHS and welfare rights. I am also soon to be volunteering in Bolivia with disadvantaged families and children.

Volunteer's Story

"In three months with 38 Degrees I’ve been made to feel a real part of the team. Volunteering here certainly doesn’t involve photocopying and making the tea – although hot beverages are always appreciated. I’ve had the opportunity to try out all aspects of online campaigning from researching and reporting on possible campaign ideas, using the sophisticated web toolset, and engaging with the ever increasing membership base.

"With 38 Degrees being such a young, small organisation there’s the real chance to get involved at every level, and it’s very satisfying to see the work that you do quickly being taken forward and rolled out. If there’s something you’ve seen in the paper and think is worth campaigning on the idea can be pitched, embraced and launched within the space of a couple of days.

"Volunteering here gives you the opportunity to feel at the centre of an exciting new movement for change in Britain, and pick up lots of useful skills on the way. The rest of the team are always on hand and eager to lend a helping hand and advice, so the office is always a fun place to be - everyone pitches in and helps everyone else. You can make, and take, as much as you want from time at 38 Degrees, developing the areas you are interested in, while helping to make some real positive changes to the country."
